Chien-Hsiu Ong operates a private cello teaching studio in Forest Hill, Melbourne. Her extensive experience includes private cello tuition, primary/secondary in-school cello tuition, group and ensemble tuition and educational workshops and presentations. She has current 'Working with Children' registration and teaches young cellists at Siena College Camberwell and Sofia Mundi Rudolf Steiner School in Abbotsford.

Chien-Hsiu enjoys teaching interested students of all ages and levels of accomplishment. In her teaching, she seeks to foster an enthusiasm for and understanding of music generally, and the cello specifically. She carefully structures a unique learning program for each individual, designed to extend them in accordance with their natural rate of development.

It is Chien-Hsiu's firm belief that a solid and well functioning instrumental technique is an essential foundation for enjoyable and rewarding musical experiences. She is therefore totally committed to dealing systematically and creatively with all technical issues. Chien-Hsiu expands her pupil's understanding of music theory alongside their instrumental development as these to elements are inseparable.

All pupils have regular performance opportunities and Chien-Hsiu encourages and supports her students to sit for practical examinations offered by The Australian Music Examinations Board, as and when this is of benefit to their development. An accomplished pianist, Chien-Hsiu regularly accompanies her students in concerts and examinations.
